Overview
Soo Hyun Lee (b. 1998, Seoul) is a London-based visual artist working in painting, video installation, and performance. Her practice explores the social values and beliefs that shape individual lives, particularly those that are complex and difficult to define, such as eternity, hope, shame, love, and care. Recently, her work has focused on care, examining its diverse emotional aspects—its potential for addiction, self-destruction, and as a path toward understanding and forgiveness. In her latest series, Lee depicts characters reflecting her personal experiences with unideal caregiving relationships, highlighting various responses to these situations. As a bilingual Asian artist, she also integrates language and communication dynamics into her work.

Lee holds an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths University of London (2024) and a BFA in Fine Art and a BA in Sociology from Korea University (2022). Recent exhibitions include Ten Fingers Connected to the Heart at Mandy Zhang Art (London), Whispered Canvases at Silian Gallery (London), Who Knows What the Earth Was Before Love at Andrea Festa Fine Art (Rome), and K-Women: Celebrating Korean Female Artists at Kingston Museum (London).
